M62 River Ouse

Drainage Survey

M62 River Ouse

Contracted by Ekspan to carry out a comprehensive CCTV drainage survey on the M62 bridge spanning the River Ouse

McCance were engaged to carry out a CCTV drainage survey on the M62 River Ouse motorway bridge structure as part of a proactive maintenance program.

Utilising remotely operated, pan-and-tilt CCTV cameras with integrated sonar profiling. The survey assessed the condition of the bridge drainage systems, including gullies, pipes, and culverts. The team deployed the camera units through access points, navigating the drainage network to capture high-resolution video footage and sonar data.

The sonar profiling provided accurate cross-sectional measurements of the pipes. Enabling the calculation of remaining capacity and identifying areas of potential flow restriction. All survey data was geo-referenced and incorporated into a digital asset management system. Providing a comprehensive record of the drainage network’s condition.

The team analyzed the data to identify defects such as blockages, cracks, pipe deformation, and sedimentation. They then used this information to prioritize maintenance activities, optimize cleaning schedules, and develop future repair strategies. These actions help ensure the long-term functionality and performance of the bridge drainage systems while preventing potential water damage to the bridge structure. The team conducted the surveys using appropriate traffic management measures to minimize disruption to road users.
